Wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure!

puckling:

You’re gonna need a pep talk sometimes. That’s okay. For now, remember this: You’re awake. You’re awesome. Live like it.

Thank you small child. I appreciate the pep talk.

*sends email to mom linking to Ellen Forney’s article about bipolar disorder*

Her responses:

"Oh, this is a cartoon?"

"Hey, that looks kind of like a carousel."

"Wow, this ‘mania’ looks awful."

*insert several minutes of shaming here that I mostly blocked out*

her: “Aren’t your meds supposed to even you out?” me: “That’s the idea, yes.” her: “But you don’t feel that way?” me: “I did at one point, yeah.” her: “Well, do your meds need changing?” me: “Pretty sure they do, yeah.” her: “Well, why haven’t they changed them?”

me: “Because my doctor left, and the new one can’t see me again until Oct 7th, despite telling me she was worried about me and wanted to see me back much sooner. She just didn’t have any available appointments bc she had to take over most of the practice on almost zero notice.”

her: “Won’t you need more meds before then?” me: “Only the benzos, and you can’t exactly go asking for those or you get labeled a drug-seeker.” her: “I’d just go demand what I need.”

me: *moment of absurd silence* “They’d arrest you, mom. They have a thick pane of plastic between the receptionist and the waiting room. I go to therapy on the State’s dime. They don’t have to give me anything.”

her: “Well, why don’t you go to a support group?” me: “Because they all meet in the middle of the day. I have work.”

 - pause -

her: “Wow, this mania sounds awful.”

The perfect cuddling couch.

That is not a couch. That is a nest, and I want one.

My idea of household heaven right here.

there is nothing more weird than reading a fanfiction someone wrote in 2006. where are these people now? are they doing okay? have they found love? do they have kids? so much can happen in 8 years

It’s equally strange when someone finds that Gankutsuou or FMA or Blade: The Series fic you wrote in the mid 2000s and leaves you comments or kudos if you happen to have uploaded it to A03 in a fit of nostalgic madness a few years ago. (Don’t even get me started on HP or Buffy.) Like, “Oh my god, how deep into the rabbit hole did you have to go to even find this, why would you read this, I’d completely forgotten about it. Also wow, you totally just made my week, possibly my year.”

You get all warm and fuzzy about it, but at the same time you think about how far your writing has come along since then and you get all red-faced and embarrassed. Probably at work.

But the warm fuzzies definitely win out.

oh god, I’ve been so exhausted, I was convinced today was sunday.

to those of you I’ve not been in contact with today I’m really sorry

I love you but I can barely get out of bed right now
