want to hear your beating heart tonight
before the bleeding sun comes alive
I want to make the best of what is left
hold tight, and hear my beating heart
one last time before daylight
So I defeated agoraphobia and went to get groceries and I finally got to see Divergent. They changed some things, but it was really just to streamline the plot and fit it into a length most people would sit through. I envisioned Eric, Will and Peter completely differently, but that didn’t really matter all that much. Also, Christina was spot on (yay Zoe Kravitz!) and that made me really happy, though I wish they’d been able to introduce other Dauntless characters like Zeke, Uriah, Shauna, Lynn, Marlene, etc. Theo James is a lot different from Four in my head, but Tris was absolutely perfect, and I got used to James as Four pretty quickly. I wish they’d had more time to really explore life in the Dauntless compound before everything went to hell, because it looked almost exactly the way it did in my head, but hey, that’s movies for you. Veronica Roth was a co-producer, and I think that made all the difference in how much I liked the film. Hnnng post-war Chicago was gorgeous, and as much as I love that city, it was really neat to see it in that world.
Also, I want to go zip-lining off the Hancock building even MORE now. Too bad I’ll never get the chance.
The Hardy Tree In the churchyard of St Pancras Old Church in London, hundreds of old gravestones circle an ash tree. In the 1860’s an older part of the churchyard was designated to make way for a new railway line. Coffins were removed with care and reburied elsewhere. Some of the headstones were placed in a circular pattern around a young ash tree in the churchyard. Over the decades the tree has, inevitably grown and parts of the headstones nearest the tree have disappeared in to its growth.
